Frequently asked questions
General Care & Services
What exactly is a "Home Companion and Sitter Service"?
A home companion and sitter provides non-clinical support, safety supervision, and meaningful engagement for seniors or those recovering from illness. Our goal is to bring joy, prevent loneliness, and ensure safety. We assist with things like puzzles, light meal prep, medication reminders, and mobility supervision, allowing your loved one to thrive wherever they call home.
Where do you provide your services?
We meet you exactly where you need us. While many of our clients are in their own private homes, we also provide companion and bedside respite care in hospitals, nursing facilities, assisted living communities (ALFs), and alongside hospice care.
What sets Serenity's Corner Home & Heart apart from other agencies?
It starts at the very top. Our founder is an experienced nurse who takes a completely hands-on approach. She doesn't just manage from behind a desk; she is actively involved in setting up care, checking in on clients, and guiding our companion staff. Because she leads by example, our entire team delivers care with a higher standard of heart, clinical awareness, and dedication.
Respite Care Questions
What is Respite Care, and who is it for?
Respite care is temporary, short-term relief designed to give primary caregivers a chance to breathe, rest, and handle their own needs. We provide this service for devoted family members who need a break, as well as regular private-duty or facility caregiving staff who need to step away or require backup coverage.
What will a companion do while the regular caregiver is away?
We don't just fill a seat; we step right into your established routine. Our companions provide safety supervision to prevent falls, prepare light meals, offer medication reminders, tidy the immediate area, and engage your loved one in their favorite activities (like reading, music, or conversation).
My loved one is in a facility/hospital. Can I still hire you for respite?
Absolutely. When facility staff are stretched thin or you simply can’t be at the bedside, our companions step in. We provide a continuous, reassuring presence, extra emotional support, and vigilant safety eyes right in the hospital or care facility room.
